Growing up in Tokyo and Portland and now based in Salt Lake City, he mixes those influences into bold colors and eye-catching imagery.
His art connects with athletes, musicians, and actors who want their vision captured on canvas or mixed media. He’s also worked with Subaru and pro skater Bucky Lasek, bringing together his love for cars, skateboards, and design.
Outside the studio, Tanuki is a true enthusiast. He drives a 1986 Porsche 911 Targa RWB and a 2001 Honda Prelude, and part of the year he lives out of a van while traveling to do mural work. Whether it’s on wheels or on walls, Tanuki keeps creating.
