 Raining Miatas

A month ago, Team 5 HP Racing regaled you with tales of limited glory from Watkins Glen. Over the past weekend, we returned to race with American Endurance Racing at New Jersey Motorsports Park. If you're at all interested in racing, this series is both beginner friendly and filled with experienced drivers who are more than willing to offer a helping hand (to wit, this series is easier to get into than our #65 Miata).

Similarly, our more experienced #360 sister team also provided us with help when necessary. They rocked an E36 art car. The decade: the 70s. The chance of rain: higher.

The Enduring Apex

Hey you, yes you. What are you doing this weekend? If it's not 18-hours of tight American Endurance Racing then you're missing out! This third race for 2018 is heading to New Jersey Motorsports Park May 18-20, where the weather is set to live up to the track's Thunderbolt moniker...

AER Blipshift Miata Glen

A soggy track won't dampen blipshift's #65 Miata though. With a fresh alternator slapped on last event (because apparently NA cars eat alternators in race conditions - who knew) and only the horsepower of a crank radio to manhandle on track, we're ready to apex everything!

That’s right. Backstreet's back, and so is our #65 Miata, making it's inaugural voyage with its new engine after the last one blew. We didn't know what to expect as we made the journey to Watkins Glen International for a weekend with American Endurance Racing, as our Miata would be on the track for more than 18 hours. Though we knew we could rely on its suspension, prepped by our race partner- the awesome shop Stable Energies, our new (used) engine was still an unknown variable. All in all, we had a great weekend, though we're now intimately familiar with Miata alternators and E36 taillights (yeah, we saw a few of those...)

Apex Endurance Racing

We're back baby! The lil' blipshift #65 Miata is ready to run a two-day marathon after its heart transplant and track prep. Watch for us making buzzy racecar noises while being passed at Watkins Glen on April 21-22 for the second American Endurance Racing event of the 2018 season!

Save some champagne for Brandon Wagner and Ed Carpenter too, who landed a spot on the podium with their own takes on nailing those virtual apexes. Not only did their runner-up status score some fine BS and iRacing credit, but the designs may made into a sweet shirt at a later date!
